Story

Lyrics by Jordan Tyler Labre music by Rene Labre. Recorded at Morrisound Studios/Tampa Engineers:Judd packer,Mark Prator,Rob Valdez Co-producers:Rob Valdez/Rene Labre Performers:Rene labre,Vocals,All Guitars,Grand Piano,Hammond Organ,Harmonica Susan Mejeras:Drums Chip Collins:Bass Mark Prator:Divine Tambourine It was a very fortunate break for Us that we were able to have Susan Mejeras Perform on drums for this session. Her time was so occupied as the director of high school marching bands in Tampa,Fla.A music teacher also performing six nights a week at saddlebrook country club. She never sleeps (except at red lights) and stands as a classic example of survival as a local musician especially in a huge poo-dunk type of town that tampa is.She just so happened to have purchased a new set of slingerland radio kings she wanted to try out.We feel she broke them in pretty well on this track.

Lyrics

I love you, oh how I love you. I Love You, Nobody knows how I love You, Your so cute, your so kind. You always want to kiss me all the time. Place your hand here in mine. I've just got to make you mine all mine. I love you, oh, how I love you. I love you, nobody knows how I love you. Your so sweet and so nice, everything about you is sugar and spice. Your so true and so good, it makes me want to do the things a good man should. You take me a little bit higher.

Story

This is the tale of Michelle auditioning for American Idol both in Orlando and Chicago. She was so distraught when she didn't make it and I suggested to her that we do a song about the expierence.I think the feeling was captured pretty well here. The Performers: Michelle Rene Parisianne:Lead Vocals Rene Labre:Lead and BGV"s/All guitars/Electric and symphonic double bass/Grand Piano Chilling Vocal Harmonies:Rene labre,David Huges,Marvin Brown Wayne Legg:Drums Produced By Tom Morris c/p 2011 American Impact Publishing Company

Lyrics

Drove a long road to Orlando, waited in line for three long days. Made it in for the audition, did not make it successfully. Then they sent me home. I cried all the way home thinking I could have done better than I did. And I hoped this would be the easy ride. Oh please let this be the easy ride..just this one time. I rode a greyhound to Chicago, waited in line for three days, just like Orlando. The cold Chicago wind slapped me in the face,it's freezing my ears and my nose. People were so mean, pushing and shoving just to make it in the stadium. And I hope this will be the easy ride, oh please let this be the easy ride.

Lyrics

Did you ever have a time when someone tried hard to shoot you the blues? You just want to do right and really need a pair of brand new shoes. come on,come on come on baby! If you have a lady friend, she really makes you jump and shout. Let me tell you life is for living, you receive by your giving, Don't hold it back, let your light shine out! Come on, come on,come on come on baby. I really, really ,really , want to be with you. Yes Ma'am! I didn't come to cause a fuss, thai cat ain't looking for trouble. When I look to check things out they can't steal my joy, Though they try so hard to make me stumble! Come on, come on, come on come on baby, Let's do it again and again and again. Come on, come on ,come on come on baby. I really, really, really want to be with you.

Story

A Bob Dylany type of song for those who have been betrayed or a fitting picture for someone of notoriety who has been caught red-handed abusing their power/position.There seems to be an awful lot of that going about from the office of the president so forth and so on right on down the line. This tune is a great place to dump your frustrations at. Written in Charlie Parker's old hotel room and the foyer piano at the Milford Plaza Hotel in New York City. Recorded back home in Tampa at morrisound studios with the following personnel:Rene on Lead vocals, all guitars and piano, David White On Bass,Roger Hughes on the mandolin.A large part of this song was therapy for Roger, a great friend and lead guitarist for The Blue Dice Band who had just suffered a terrible accident to his hands to a point where it was doubtful that he would ever be able to play again.Thankfully for all of us his he did heal his broken hands and is back onstage again. Therefore the therapy was a success!

Lyrics

I've Been watching you, For such a long time. I love you because I am your friend. When I see the things you're starting to do It's making my heart ache. My heart aches because I don't understand. What is this you have embraced? Why is that shadow falling across your face? You are in for a big surprise, You won't get away this time. Did you think you were behind a closed door, postive that no one would see? You could always lie in the public eye, you fooled them all with ease! You answered every question perfect as proof though not one word of it is the truth. You're falling through time and space, you'd better get ready to be put in your place. You are way out of line, you won't get away this time.....OH NO!

Story

We are greatly honored by the privilege of being able to record one of the world's great violinists, Ms. Amanda Gertulla. Equally surprised that she would even consider performing for a rock and roll band. In this day and age of synthesized, cut and pasted "freeze dried music" this cut is a performance from front to back of musical brilliance. It is for only the most passionate music lovers. Also featured on this track are two other fabulous players Chris Kidd on drums And Mr. David White on bass guitar. Salute!

That’s when she walked by in a satin dress, She’s the height of fashion through and through. Hey dudes, dig what I say, ‘cause I’m talking to you. Woe ho ho! She’s so fine, I wish she was mine, it’s true. She treats me so mean, and then in between, She’s a tease. Stuck up as she can be. Then it’s Friday night and I feel alright, got some money in my pocket too! I don’t believe it’s a crime to have a good time, if your careful about what you do. Tryin’ so hard to find her, make my stand behind her, and finally find a love that’s true. Woe ho ho! She’s so Fine, I wish she was mine, it’s true. Lyrics

We've been going out baby for a long long time, and that's alright. But lately, you haven't been around. I've been calling and calling to talk to you, but still i sit at home with a frown and all my tears. We should spend More time, it would help to ease my mind (x2} Your love is so sweet like non I've ever known. I think the two of us should hop on a train and drive this love train all the way home. (oo) (oo) I've been calling you, cause you know that I'm missing you baby! (oo) (oo) I've been calling and calling. Cause you know i've been so lonely. Somebody told me you were just to cool, somebody said not to play the fool. Then you walked into my life... Now you've got me thinking twice. Before you came up in the world it was me...paying for your dreams. I turned around and found You don't give a damn about me. Your too cool,to be with me. too cool...to be with me. Hello freaky-deaky! How are you? your such a freaky thang, I don't know what I'm gonna do..so here I go, Don't know what I'm gonna do. Don't know what to do now Don't know what I'm gonna do! I have to see your movie, cause you rocked me on your CD. Every night I dream 'bout you, my fantasies are your marketing scheme. Your too cool to be with me, too cool....to be with me.

Story

A dedication to my brothers and sisters of the road. Ah, Er...this song was a major mixing experiment for me as a producer. The trick that may hurt us or help us the most is that with The Rene Labre Group the search is for a spontaneous feel and burst of brilliant energy. A "buzz" if you will. In terms of technology we would sacrifice edited perfection for a cool feel In terms of mixing I was looking for a tune that as you listen to it you desire to keep turning it up. I think that with listeners it will come to a point that you are going to want to mix your own personal song libraries yourself. That is far out! Any song done by anyone would sound so different..could you imagine being able to personally re-mix the album "Roundabout" by Yes? Dude this would be tripping sans LSD. So to edit a long story to fit the needs and requirements of broadcast radio TURN THIS ONE UP RIGHT FROM THE START!!!! Thanks to Mr. Billy Pike, a fellow trucker for loaning me his dad's Kay acoustic for the guitar solo.

Lyrics

I get paid to ball the jack you see, up and down the superslab. We roll out to haul, free and easy ya'll, it's rolling thunder with a chrome smokestack. This payload's inbound into Houston, down by the astrodome. all the time on my mind is how I miss my stately home. Girl we can't live with all this pain and sorrow, I'm coming home tomorrow. Bobtailing up out of Houston, to snag a transfer leaving out from Beaumont, ahead there lies miles and miles and miles, I can't remember when I lost count. All I have is you on my mind Mon Cher, as heavy weather turns into fog, visibility has me sinking down, double clutch and change a cog. Girl we can't live through all this pain and sorrow, I'm coming home tomorrow. Highballing into pascagoula, with a load of red beans and rice, with rhythm and blues on my radio, Bonnie Raitt's guitar sliding through the night. It's worked up with my dispatcher, my next load is homeward bound, Sign these bills baby, let me go, I've got to fuel up and pound ground. Girl we're gonna break all this pain and sorrow, I'm coming home tomorrow, I'm coming home tomorrow Great GOD almighty! I'm coming home tomorrow.

This is so beautiful,I met someone who is a good friend of mine who agreed to experiment with me,to become my muse for a love song.To fall in love for the creation of a song.Oh yes and she was one of these sweet little irish lasses.Less that four feet tall, not a midjet,a leprecaun.I lost it too,I really fell in love with her,I went beyond the script she is so pretty and so sweet I asked her to become my pretty little wife. She shook her head no..."here is my guitar and there is the pen, just write the song Rene and stop being so silly."I had to borrow her guitar to do it.Only an irish would have gone along with this proposal. She is Irish and french and this song is where she took my emotions. The world will not get it,the mass media as always will ban it yet I feel it is up there with Hank Williams.

Lyrics

Donna...Donna, will she kiss me goodnight? I want to hold her tight and tell her it's alright. If I only had one day to live, please let me be at your side. We only have one life to live,I want you to know I adore you. Repeat chorus Babe if you ever get lonely or scared just wrap my love around you. I don't care if the world falls down,I'm so glad that I found you. repeat chorus. Every time you kiss me I know that it's true, you turn my world upside down. How can my heart break free and fly so high with both of my feet on the ground? Donna...Donna. Will she kiss me goodnight? Honey hold me tight. Tell me it's alright.

Story

From 1986 to 1994 I was a deacon and music director of the Florida Evangalistic Center under Pastor William "Shotgun Wille"" Magee performing both on piano and Hammond C-3 Organ. The "Church" version of the B-3.The persuits of my rock and roll career had left me flat on my back and in looking up I saw the face of GOD.I came to the center doing community service and was sweeping the floor in the chapel when I could not resist to turn on the organ and play it,prior to that for two years I had been the house organist at the notorious "Midnight Hour" 78th st bottle club in Brandon,FL. performing nightly from three until 7:30 in the morning with all of the different bands that came through. You have heard the term sex, drugs and rock and roll...this was the place to find all three.Packed seven nights a week with all of the sin you could partake in.Anyway,I was hitting some licks on the hammond and I heard the pastor yelling "I don't want you to sweep the floor or do anymore yardwork here!" I said "are you throwing me out?" He said "NO,we have revival coming in on Tuesday and Friday night I want you on that organ!" So I joined "Brother Love's Salvation show rocking the keys for GOD.Rocking for GOD in his house here on earth.Pastor Magee had such a beautiful influence upon my troubled life.He was 82 years old yet sharp as a tack, he taught me that the only drug I needed was the music and the love of GOD. To live in trust of my faith and not fear of man. After he passed on he was replaced by Prophet Daniel and the First Glorious Community Church, ahh a " black church" if you will,I mean I am not a racist just everyone in the church was a black person and i was asked to stay on as a deacon and music director."Think about what I am saying is one of the recordings I released from that period.Pure southern gospel music and i came to find that finally i had discovered the true roots of rock, blues, county, and r&b music. This is the original compostion that came out of this period.

Story

This one is a long story, It was the first project I attempted as a producer for American Impact. The subject matter being overcoming addictions with the outcome being a choice of love over fear. It took four years to record it. Though it sounds simple it is quite complex. The recording began on a two track sony unit in a trailer in Thonotosassa,Florida. this is where the rhythm track, lead guitar, lead vocal, acoustic guitar and the barber shop quartet were recorded with a tinny drum machine. I played the demo to two friends of mine John and Donald Tardy of the group "Obituary" at that time they were "The Executioners" and they suggested I take it into Morrisound studios where they were recording. At the studio the two track sony was transferred to twenty four track 2" analog and it was Sgt. Pepper time. The addition of 9 more singers who were friends of mine from "singing Parties" that we used to have on the weekend. During this period I was also taking voice lessons on the advice of my sister who informed me that I was a shitty untrained vocalist."Worse than Bob Dylan" she said. That observation deflated my ego for half a decade, I had been playing and singing rock and roll on the road for a long time would say successfully shouting over the din of the band so anyhow I began to study big band singing with Lynette Cordoso who showed me opera technique and taught me that if I can think it, I can sing it. It set me free at last, now I can play and really sing. You folks who are reading this have no idea how hard it is to go into a studio and face a lead vocal mic. You think all of these singers walk in and knock off a track in two or three takes and sing the whole song all the way through. all I shall tell you is that even Sinatra had his outtakes. Okay so Lynette began to join in on our "singing parties" and agreed to do the female lead on the session. On the song already was the barbershop quartet consisting of The Reverand(Allen Thomas Miller),Dallas Upton,David Cook, and Myself. Dallas and David were from the enemy band "Fat Chance" that played in the club down the street from us as well as Dr. Hooks buddy, Lamaur Jones who is on bass. When I asked lamaur to join the sessions he said "look Rene, all I want to do is lay down the road, the highway for you to run all the hot rods over." You younger folks wont understand that these were different days, live music was happening and there were more clubs to play in than bands to go in them. You could actually make a modest living as a musician "Fat Chance" was our main competitor, we used to jam at each others show and steal eachothers girlfriends. It was fun. This leads to going into the studio with nine singers to do the second vocal chorus. So you've got the barber shop crew doing the doo-doo-doos and bone-bone-bone and the second chorus doing the ooh's and ahh's with the spoken and shouted ad-libs. all through the whole song graced by Ms. Cordoso's fantastic female lead. These experiments were a success! Next we overdub the reverand on the real drums, get him to do the hammond b-3 over the guitar solo and fire up his roland synth. There are two hammond organs on this by the way on the verses i am playing a hammond m-3 straight with no leslie and the Reverand is on the b-3 with leslie on the guitar solo. That m-3 is a story in itself it had more of a monkees type (I'm A Believer) combo organ sound. When it wasn't gigging we kept it outdoors on the patio. I played that thing to death and used to cut my fingers on the broken keys. I kept a double shot of jack daniels on the top of it to dip my fingers in as an anteseptic the upper and lower keyboards covered with blood.I used it for two years as the house organist at "The Midnight Hour" afterhours club. After my regular show with my group I would go down there and was paid by the owner to sit in with all the groups he would hire. That gig was seven nights from 3 in the morning till seven. It's life ended when it finally broke down for good by being dropped forty feet from a junkyard crane.(why wasn't that filmed.) Now back to the studio at the grand piano doing that track a la Jerry lee lewis/little richard (that one is filmed!) and for good measure do two more rhythm guitar parts with a gibson sg and a rickenbacker 325 to finish off with a rickenbacker 360-12 for the floating funk parts. All of the craziness of that part of my life is on this track including the arrival of my baby son who is heard wailing in the acoustic guitar intro. That is the story and I am sticking to it. When I listen to it I smile and am grateful to still be alive.

Lyrics

Once I got a little lazy digging to much freedom, now I've got the price to pay. Though my problems came I didn't rise to meet them. I did my best to blow them away. Sitting back on a sunny day. Sitting back on a sunny day. When I woke from this dream there was no-one to bluff, the judge believes I'll change my ways. I got my hands cut and callused from the hard work of making my stand as a man. Good LORD please have mercy on my poor soul. I'm just trying to get out of the hole. My car is running rough (no brakes) This stuff is gettin' tough (high stakes) OUT OF CONTROL!!!!!!!! I find I can forgive myself these days I know better,I'm caring for a child and me Expierence has taught me that it's best to be patient. You have to see yourself to set yourself free. I, want you back again. I, need your love again. I know you find it hard, to reason with me. This time it's different, darling you'll see. (chorus) Tell me your coming back to me (x4) You, said we're through before. You, walked out on me before. I tried to tell you, what you didn't want to know. This time we're different, and it's going to grow. (repeat chorus) I, wait as the days go by. I, long for the nights to go by. I hear a knock on my door, that has never come. I hear a telephone, that hasn't rung! (repeat chorus/Jam it a little/end it)

WE RECORDED THIS SONG IN THE CHARACTER OF OUR ALTER-EGO "THE COTTONPICKERS" AND RELEASED IT TO SECONDARY BROADCAST TOP-40 RADIO IN THE YEAR 2000. THE PURPOSE OF DOING IT WAS TO BENEFIT CHILDREN'S CANCER RESEARCH AT ST. JUDES CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL IN MEMPHIS.TENNESSEE. THIS POINT WAS TOTALLY MISSUNDERSTOOD BY RADIO STATIONS WHO DISMISSED IT AS A JOKE. THIS THUNDERING VERSION STILL STANDS UP TODAY AND IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS ON BEHALF OF ALL OF US THAT THE DRUMMER ON THIS SESSION, MISSISSIPPI CHRIS KIDD WOULD FALL VICTIM TO THROAT CANCER HIMSELF. THIS SONG IS IN TRIBUTE TO HIM AND AGAIN, ALL OF THE PROCEEDS OF SALES OF THIS CD SHALL GO TO THE ST. JUDES CHILDRENS HOSPITAL. IF THIS TUNE STRIKES YOUR FANCY GO TO OUR PRODUCTS LINK WHICH WILL TAKE YOU TO CD BABY AND YOU CAN DO YOUR PART AND CONTRIBUTE TO THIS CAUSE. You were raised out of high society, and I was brought up in the world of poverty. Your daddy he don't like me,and Mama is ashamed to see. Her daughters living with a man she can't believe in. A girl like you just can't fall in love...with a man like me. Run back to high society. You are you and I am me, our parents tell us that our love can never be. But they, they don't realize exactly what we have done. They don't realize that your gonna bear my son. A girl like you just can't fall in love, with a man like me. Story

I answered an add in the newspaper "Blues band looking for lead and slide guitar."I auditioned and got the spot with The Crawdaddy Blues Band.Essentially a trio of Johnny Porter,Terry Brennen, and myself with a revolving door of bassists and drummers and whatnot artists. It was basicly a blues cover band sporting one original song and at my plodding began to write more. You may as well of called this band "The Timebomb."We spent most of our time arguing with eachother although we actually were very close friends yet the whole thing was a firecracker lit at both ends.Yet our sound was authentic Chicago style blues and the originals became somehow infused with country music. Our gigs were legendary and a madhouse. We drove it like a full speed Ferrari into a brick wall.Heavy drinking, after show orgies, you name it.I quit the group three times I know about but then Johhny called me to tell my that Terry had died.So in his honor and remembrence Johnny and I got some sessions together. The tune is really good hardcore blues low down funked out country and I believe it has the finest recorded harmonica solo I have ever heard done by Stagedoor Johnny Porter who is also featured on the lead vocal here.Copyright 1999 John Porter,Rene Labre,The late Terry Brennen (RIP)

Lyrics

I feel low down when you walked through the door, I don't remember your name. You told me before your love was true as gold, but it ain't what you claimed it to be, it's just a shame to say... You babe, ain't what you used to be to me. The sun will still shine as it always did, The world will move the same. And I'll miss you like I always did, cause you always soothed the pain. You babe, you ain't what you used to be...to me. Time passes slow and the booze runs fast from the bottle. And I'll miss you as I always did, but I can't change the sorrow. You babe, you got the best of me...you see.

Story

THIS IS THE STORY OF HOW MY ELDER BROTHER, BILLY, WON HIS WIFE. THE TITLE SHOULD ACTUALLY BE AMY, AMY. THIS SOUND IS REALLY WHAT I DIG TO PLAY, STRAIGHT FORWARD AND STRAIGHT AHEAD UNPRETENTIOUS ROCK AND ROLL, LIKE COUNTRY MUSIC THE HARDEST THING TO DO IS TO BE SIMPLE AND MAKE IT COUNT,WHY? i WILL SHARE THIS WITH YOU, TO BE SIMPLE IT HAS TO BE PERFECT.IF I MAY SAY TO YOU MY BROTHER BILLY HAD AN IMPACT ON ME WHEN I PLAYED OTHER INSTRUMENTS BESIDES THE GUITAR.HE WAS FOOLING WITH THE HARMONICA FOR A LONG TIME, I MESSED WITH IT FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS AND SAID "DON'T YOU WANT TO SOUND LIKE THIS WITH IT? AND AH WOOO WOOO WOOO, I WAS COPPING LICKS FROM "2120" BY THE STONES WITH BRIAN ON THE HARMONICA THIS OF COURSE LED TO ME GETTING AN ASS-WHIPPING FOR BEING A SMART ASS,HE WANTED ME TO SOUND LIKE B.B. KING ON GUITAR AND WANTED TO GET ME A GIBSON 335 WITH VARITONE. YOU CAN SEE HIM IN THE MOVIE "WOODSTOCK" HE IS THE GUY RIDING A MOTORCYCLE WHILST A GUY IS TRYING TO BE A STAR ON ACOUSTIC GUITAR.I HAD TO WRITE THIS TUNE DUE TO THE TREMENDOUS IMPACT AMY HAD UPON OUR SORELY DISFUNTIONAL FAMILY. MY MOTHER WAS A WIDOW ATTEMPTING TO RAISE FOUR CHILDREN. AFTER OUR FATHER PASSED AWAY WE WERE ALL LOST LIKE A SHIP ON THE SEA WITHOUT A SAIL. THE INTRODUCTION OF AMY TO OUR FAMILY WAS AS THOUGH GOD HAD SENT AN ANGEL TO HELP US. THIS SONG WAS WRITTEN IN UNDER HALF AN HOUR. AS A WRITER YOU STRUGGLE SO MUCH TO WORK IT OUT AND IF YOU STICK WITH IT YOUR BEST THING COMES FROM A DIVINE INSPIRATION IN WHICH YOU ARE NOT A CREATOR AS MUCH AS YOU ARE A RELIABLE MESSENGER. OR ER..AHH...A PRODUCER AS IT WERE......I WORK HARD AT IT. AND THE STORY IS NOT FINISHED IF I MAY SAY THAT TO YOU BECAUSE I AM IN LOVE-REALLY HARD, WITH AMY'S LITTLE SISTER, SALLY ROBINSON ALL I CAN TELL YOU IS WHEN YOU KISS A GIRL ON HER SWEET LIPS AND THE WHOLE SKY EXPLODES WITH FIREWORKS AH, THAT HAS GOT TO BE PRETTY MUCH IT.HER LIPS ARE SO SWEET,I LOVE TO KISS HER REAL SOFTLY HARDLY TOUCHING MY LIPS TO HERS...THIS MAY SEEM REAL BORING TO MOST OF YOU, I DON'T CARE IT DOES NOT BORE ME I AM NOT A PLAYER TYPE OF GUY,IF A MAN CAN REALLY LOVE ONE WOMAN THAT IS AS GOOD AS HE S GONNA DO,PLUS THAT IS GOING TO TAKE ALL OF YOUR SPARE TIME TO KEEP IT WORKING..IF YOU REAllY LOVE HER.SHE HAS AGREED AND IS GOING ALONG WITH YOU SHE WANTS HER HAPPY ENDING.THAT IS HER RIGHT, EH?....WHEN ONSTAGE IT SEEMS THAT WAY TO THE WHOLE AUDIENCE AND IT'S OKAY TO THINK THAT WAY BECAUSE IT IS A PERFORMANCE...A FANTASTIC HIGH THAT I AM FIRMLY ADDICTED TO.AND BABY LET ME TELL YOU, I AM OLDER NOW BUT I HAVE STILL GOT THE MOVES THAT MAKE THE GIRLS JUMP AND SHOUT.SOME OF THE GUYS TOO.. YET WHEN THE SHOW IS OVER IT IS THE QUIET AFTER THE STORM AND IMMEDIATLY REALITY SETS IN. YOU MAY BE SPENDING CHRISTMAS IN VIENNA BUT YOU ARE ON TOUR AND AWAY FROM THOSE THAT NOT ONLY ARE CLOSEST TO YOU, BUT THEY ARE STILL ALIVE. SO AT ANY RATE, THIS IS QUITE THE SILLY LOVE SONG AND THEY NEVER GO OUT OF STYLE.

Lyrics

You, doing that thing you do, breaking my heart into a million pieces. Like you always do. And you, thought me to be cruel, you never even knew about the heartache that I've been going through... I try and try to forget you girl, it's just so hard to do. Every time you do that thing you do. I, saw the game you play, I'm going to find the way to let youknow that you'll be mine someday, 'Cause we, will be happy can't you see? If you'e only let me be around to hold you, and keep you here with me. (repeat chorus) (bridge) I'm so distracted.everything's so complicated. I really want you bad girl, and I just can't take it anymore! (guitar solo) Cause we, will be happy cant you see? If you'd only let me be around to hold you and keep you here with me. Story

This experiment contained some interesting moments but my spanish language skills failed me.You just could not fit in all of the words to adapt it cause the music is so fast.I did try the best that I could,I studied up hard on it yet it was, well, initially frustrating,Andy Deganal was engineering the vocal session, then it became funny instead as I would have to be again totally re-coached to do it.I think now I could do much better. And as I said some of it is quite good but in the really long phrases the spanish translation required about seven more words to fit into that space and I am mis-pronouncing all of the O's and the music was just steaming on by me.And we were cracking up laughing also and that made concentration impossible.Andy spoke to me over the talk back and said"You Know you sound like the pope on LSD."I finally squeezed all the words in there.A note on this was that the group "INSYNC" was in studio A at transcontinental studios trying to cop my idea of doing their songs in spanish and they could not do it so they came up with the term "Spanglish version."My publisher,Amercan Impact wanted to toss it in the can but I wanted it released because it is very funny to someone who speaks spanish. So you get a free download of it.I may one day do a humorous video to it.Still I am singing on pitch and the music is pumping some good rock and roll!

Lyrics

This version is the same as the english and done mostly for fun in espanol. This illustrates rather frantic young fellow who has fallen in love with a spanish girl and he does not speak her native toungue undaunted he is gonna do the best he can to express his love for her in her language. Unplugged live. After all I have been through this is where I got to and how I feel about it.And it was so perfectly captured live here with the audience totally indifferent to the performance. They were digging it because they did not leave and it was a large crowd for a club show and the tip jar was full up.Yet the attitude was "we are disengauged from the performance" and it was really hot 98 degrees with 100 and ten % humidity. This summer really sucked bad. Some of it I brought on my self as I turned my air conditioner off.I live in florida you see and oh man was it hot and miserable.I wanted to beat out the power company on my electric bill. This was a fun show,I love to work unplugged."Livingroom music" I call it.

Lyrics

Take me to the station, and put me on a train. I've got no expectations to pass through here again. Your heart is like a diamond, you cast your pearls at swine. And as I watch you Leaving me, you packed my piece of mind. Our love is like the water, splashing on the stones. Our love is like our music, It's here and then it's gone. So take me to the station, please put me on a train. I've got no expectations, to pass through here again.

My latest new one.

Lyrics

Maybe someday you'll love me. Maybe one day you will care. On a rainy day you may think of me, and wish that I was there. Maybe someday, baby someday. You will. Maybe one day you'll get it. And come to understand. Then you will say, what a fine thing, just slipped right through my hands. Maybe someday, baby someday....you will. We had a little argument,we had a little fight. I like to take a moment out to say, I STILL THINK I WAS RIGHT! Maybe some day you'll live all alone in a house that once was a home. After all those other cats fell down flat, you may wonder where I have roamed. I never take time to look behind, I only stop long enough to taste the wine, I ain't never gonna let another situation, place me into a bind.

Yes well come on in here and see how it is done. This is how we do it it is all precision timing and skill.Every little detail programmed into us from countless hours of hard rehearsal.Every single note played or sung has a place and a meaning, formed together as a synergy. It was as though all of us had to rediscover something that was taken out of our DNA.Onstage this band was beyond belief. And the Major Labels and the Mass Media were determined to stop it.You just were not going to see three fabulous black guys fronted by a crazy white man.Playing rock and roll music tainted and twisted by funk and soul.Loud and proud our feet dancing the line, swinging our guitars around with our sweet sweat flying into the lights and the crowd. We were set to turn the world of rock on it's ear.Something totally original. Not the bland idiotic crap the media feeds you.We had years of roadwork under our belts yet it was in the very dicriminatory deep south. At that time. But what did that matter it was all in the past and we made it through?Yet our airplay disappeared overnight (suprise) and our first grass roots tour of the US was canceled. Not a big star tour, just to play in cities with our best airplay, play for the stations and start to get known outside of our little box.So I don't know,it's in the past...what did I learn from it?And it was horrible at the end.I was left standing on stage all by myself. When you go through a grind like this it begins to sap your life force and you have to back off and regroup yourself or disappear at the bottom of a whiskey bottle or a crack pipe or something. We had stopped fooling around with drugs many years ago. They do not do anything positive for you.The high is to create something and make it to live.I am a survivor and I had a son to feed and care for.Back to the acoustic guitar and write some songs.I have to sing and play,I just have to.Umm it is something I don't understand,I have left a blazen trail for you.I am not as jaded nor bitter as I thought I would be.I still get the same joy when I play.My avengement is to not be robbed of that.My purpose is to evolve into the light. To respect and take care of and further develop the wonderful gifts I have been given to create.

Story

From the catalog of my tenure as lead guitarist for the Crawdaddy Blues band.John came up with the concept and most of the lyrics,I added some lyrics and borrowed some from Robert Johnson plus did the structure of the music with Terry. This was a great blues band and we lived it as we played it.When Terry passed away we lost such a crucial dynamic I could not go on with it any longer.I would like to let the music we wrote live on.

Lyrics

Fools tumble and win, might have to try it again. That's what she said, that's what she said. This space is for rent, I don't like wearing these shoes. It feels like I'm losing, feels like I'm losing again. Fools tumble and win, I thought that you were my friend. I watched you turn slowly to walk away, the stars come out and the sun shines my way. I'll make it through another page of this play, I won't be held down a common display. I love hard to make it last, love hard to male it last. If just one time I could win, I've come to far to give in. I am standing knocking upon your door, I turned to leave with my arms folded closed. Fools tumble and win, or has my patience been worn to thin? That special girl with the stars in her eyes, She's not here and it's so hard to get by. Fools tumble and win. Fools tumble and win. Fools tumble and win..... Coptright 2010 John Porter,Rene Labre,The late Terry Brennen

Dave Clark/Mike Smith

Story

The famed "saturday night sessions" on my back porch with X-man on maracas although he is deceased. This is by tribute to Mike Smith, lead singer and keyboards for "The Dave Clark Five." leather lunged Mike Smith pro even a singer, and this guy was "top of the pops" as they say, even "The Beatles" feared him.You "kiddies" would not understand the impact of "The Dave Clark Five" upon the early sixties. They were asked to do the part of "The Monkees" by Don Kirchner and thay turned the part down.I am a major Dave Clark fan,and as well possess the honor of calling him a personal friend. This is such a humble version of this tune,we were just having some fun on a saturday night and sadly so..I did not have a date well yes I did with my Les Paul Custom. And the x-man showed up!The DC5 never released this song as a single and they ought to have done that.It was the film soundtrack to their movie "Weekend In London" their answer to The Beatles Film "help!"I have spoken to Dave on the phone a couple of times, what a sharp cookie!

Lyrics

Saturday night everybody's having fun, You don't know that I'm having me some. You left me alone and though I would die, And all night long you thought I would cry. Were having a wild weekend, having a wild weekend! Reeling and rocking, rocking and rolling! I met a sweet girl who thought I was fine, She said "come with me and we'll have a good time!" We got all dressed up and I took her out. She's not like you...she treats me right. We're having a wild weekend, having a wild weekend! Reeling and rocking, rocking and rolling!

Story

This is my recording concept as I generally do all of the tracks yet this is the baking of the cake, the rhythm track. The electric guitar, (me) The Drums (mighty bill bland)and The Bass (Al Erhart) The track also includes the 12 string solo with ric-o-sound.Many thanks go to al's wife sherry as we forgot the 12 string going to the studio and she left work to bring it to us.This is one of the stones great overlooked numbers from their first album. The sound is that same gritty trebly 1964 trip. This is very bare bones with much added later,it is the baked cake waitng for the icing.

Story

Recorded on march 17th,1980 at The Depot/Tampa.fl. Featuring The original Rene Labre Group with Rodger Hughes on guitar. The original Rene Labre Group; Rene Labre:Vocals,Harmonica,Lead Guitar Steve Hightower:Accompaniment guitar(rhythm and lead),Vocals Carlos Gonzalos:Drums Crazy Joe:Bass,Backround vocals,Harmonica This is a glimpse of it as you shall never hear it.Pure Southern Rock...hot humid and sweaty with a full dance floor.A zillion crickets chirping against us.The crowd was much larger than we expected, since we were working the door just getting started I was happy. The southern rock thing was such a cool scene. All of the bands ran like packs,we worked six nights a week and after the shows we would go to the bottle clubs and hang together, jam with one another, very competitive on the outside,a huge family on the inside. There was a lot of money floating around so you could make a living just playing music. What I did not know was that I was supposed to be "cutting heads" with Rodger Hughes that night.A fabulous guitarist who grew to be a great friend of mine.Oh man he came in the door like a ninja,he was ready to take me out.Cutting Heads is a very real thing down south, the loser drops his soul.So we are between songs and Crazy Joe says to me"you are cutting heads with Rodger now,I noticed that Stevie had left the stage and Rodger was on,I walked right over to him and said "I will play with you but this ain't cutting heads. You have to agree to that."He said "I am just here to play,I heard you were really good,I just want to check it out.I don't know anything about cutting against you." Cutting Heads is some serious black magic if you lose the cost is your very soul.

Lyrics

Do you love me, or are you telling me a lie, Do you need me. and do you care? You said if I needed anything or anyone, just to call on you and you would be there. Did you miss me, all the time you were away? Did you think of me? You said that I was your only. And did you call my name, in your sleep at night, or was somebody else there when you fell lonely? Stagelight Lover, your hair is shining in the light, Stagelight Lover, my lover don't you know that I'm missing you tonight? Stagelight lover, You play as is there is no end, Stagelight lover, Shine for me again! Did you really, try to call? And was my phone really off the hook? Do you truly keep my picture by your side so when you miss my face you can look. Do I really mean more to you, you, you, than that rock and roll guitar? Do you truly want me with you no matter where you are? Are you really, baby are you really coming back home soon? Yoy know I need to hold you again-i've been so lonely. (repeat chorus) Yes! you are my lover, woo hoo-hoo my stagelight lover. Come on and shine! oh shine, shine for me tonight! Come be my lover,my lover my lover, stagelight lover. Oh yes, and you're all mine. Come on and rock my world! Yes I wanna be your rock and roll girl. ha! ha! ha! So don't you hurt me! Don't you stay away because I'm showing more each day. I'm gonna say a prayer for you, cause you know that soon she's due! So be my lover, my stagelight lover. And wherever you are, shine for me...... Just like a star.
